Meet Brendt Reil's Dog, Linus

 

He's the cutest little guy, ever. Super sweet and at 2 months he's basically 100% trained. How very lucky Brendt is! He's a mix, but mainly puggle with a little more beagle than pug. He's very lovable, sweet and fairly relaxed. He joined us for dinner tonight for Thai.

A Taste of Alaska - The Scenery

 

Here are just 4 out of the nearly 300 photos I took this week in gorgeous Alaska. I could not have imagined the majesty of the mountains and I really lucked out - the weather was beautiful every day we were in port. The Ms Volendam ported in Juneau on July 3rd - my bday, in Skagway on July 4th - wonderful celebrations and in Ketchikan on July 6th. It was much too short, but the pictures and memories will live forever! Check out more in the post below!

A Taste of Alaska - The People

 

Another Birthday...Another Cruise. Last week I met Patrick and Maria on their ship, the Ms Volendam for my 30th Birthday. We sailed from Vancouver to Alaska and back for 7 all too short days. We had the usual wild time aboard yet another Holland America Cruise ship. Alaska was stunning, but I just live for the new memories I know I'll make each ship. This is now my third ship in the HAL fleet...the Veendam, the Noordam and now the Volendam. I'll be joining the Volendam again in Australia in January and I can't wait. There's never enough time to spend with Maria (Campos), my best friend and the "most popular girl on the ship" aka the female lead singer of the Volendam.

We spent the week in tribute to Michael Jackson, playing his songs day in and day out, dancing to Britney (we'll NEVER grow out of it), hiking and having the best time ever. Patrick wore a wolf shirt every single night. A $12 Alaskan wolf shirt that glowed in the dark. Really, just perfect. Characters are welcome.

As always, it was the time of my life.

This is so heartbreaking - it was taken just before he passed away at rehearsal. For Michael Jackson, I think he looks pretty good. He seems very happy in the photo set. Justin Timberlake and his best friend/business partner, Trace Ayala, showed their William Rast collection at Selfridges in London yesterday. Oh the arrogance on their faces!!! Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has been in Toronto for the Much Music Awards all weekend. It seems he was assaulted outside his hotel, the SoHo Met around 3:30am EST. He alerted the public and the police at the same time via Twitter.

At this point, I don't think this is a joke or the work of a hacker. The police are reportedly on the scene thanks to hundreds of phone calls from his Twitter followers.

Foiled Again with Ana Ortiz

 

Once you are seen around town with a baby bump the paparazzi follow you. Ana has only become more famous thanks to the baby bump - oh Hollywood. It's weird/entertaining to actually see the pap situation first hand. One turned up at Da Silvano and then suddenly there were five.

Just Days Before Baby - Lunch with Ana Ortiz

 

Ugly Betty star Ana Ortiz is literally 10 days away from her due date! We met for a girls lunch at Da Silvano yesterday and dished on men, writing, Twilight obsessions and of course, lots of baby talk. Before the day was over, we had gorgeous new leather bags from MCM. After a little walk through SoHo, we had to take cover from the sudden downpour, but it was a great way to spend a Monday afternoon in NYC. I think she looks fantastic - can you imagine looking this great so far along?

Ana and husband Noah have a few names chosen and they are going to wait until after they meet their baby girl to choose the perfect one for her. I can't wait to be "aunt" to this destined to be adorable new family member. She's going to get lots of pink.

Jon & Kate Plus 8 - 40 NEW Episodes, Behind the Scenes

 

That's right, TLC has enlisted the Gosselin's for another 40 episodes. It looks like this may be the last 40, ever. We can only hope. This family needs some off screen life to sort out the mess they created. I LOVE this family, but it is heartbreaking to watch another reality show tear a couple apart. Fame changes almost everyone - you can't avoid it.

The show had 9.8 million viewers on Monday night, doubling their highest ratings ever. TLC cried gold tears on Monday. Hopefully Kate worked in a back end deal based on a climb in viewership. The family already earns 1.5 million/season. They should get a wild bonus for a doubled viewership.

Now...here are a couple of points that I want to make about the show. People that don't have access to what happens behind the scenes should know that -

a. Everything that family does is free. Any travel they do, any products they use, any place they go - it's free because they are Jon & Kate Plus 8. Their groceries are free. If their clothes aren't free, they're heavily discounted. I've actually seen the documents that prove the nonstop freebies. If you see it happen on the show, it's free and if you don't see it on the show, it's still free or almost entirely free.

b. Jon was living in a dream world when he thought he would never be a public figure. Whether documentary style or not, once you put yourself into people's homes via TV, internet, film, YOU BECOME A PUBLIC FIGURE. Once you take freebies, don't be a moron, you're absolutely a public figure.

c. Kate's beloved family is doing nothing to help the situation by speaking out against their own. Aunt Jodi and Uncle Kevin made 15K for their CBS appearance. FYI - the mags do pay for quotes and the TV shows ALWAYS pay appearance fees. Kate and Jon will not be helped by any of the on the record comments made to magazines, papers and the morning shows. It's a bad choice to go public as they have and will only hurt the family they say they are protecting.

d. Watch or don't watch the new season, but in the best interest of the kids, I would hope that they end the show after this season. Save your money and let it go, Kate. The kids do deserve a private life away from cameras.

I loved this show, but it is ruined for me. It's the curse of reality tv shows - the only twosome still together are Tori & Dean.

David Cross and Amber Tamblyn Going Strong and Slightly Gross

 

May December...May December...May - wait! It's lasted almost a year already! He's 40 something, she's 20 something and I've spotted them out and they are quite happy together. Amber Tamblyn and comedian David Cross were down on the LES with her old Travelin' Pants co-star Rory Gilmore. I mean Alexis Bledel. And according to Gawker, Bledel didn't seem thrown by the 20+ year age difference, so why should I? Yeah. I still am. David is the original Tobias Funke from Arrested Development, but it still doesn't ease the nausea for me.

Breaking Dawn will be a film!

 

Robert Pattinson let it slip in interviews yesterday at Cannes that Breaking Dawn, the fourth in the Twilight Saga, has been optioned for a movie and the cast has been signed on. Thank you, Lord. That makes me embarassingly excited as most of us Twilight nerds believe that is the best book. Though Twilight itself is standalone great.

Sextuplets Turn 5!

 

Jon & Kate's sextuplets turned 5 last weekend amidst the MAJOR DRAMA over the rumours that Jon cheated on Kate. Tragic. I love those 8 kids no matter what J&K do. This weekend they celebrated belatedly and the film cameras were there to document all the birthday action. Looks like Kate is going to attempt to push right past the rumours and continue the show pretty much as normal. The debut of the new season is exactly ONE WEEK AWAY. I cannot wait to see how they address all the drama and magazine reports.

Last night Eva Longoria was in town for a hot minute to walk the red carpet of People En Espanol's Most Beautiful party. She couldn't stay for the party, but her stylist, Robert Verdi put her in one perfect little dress. Without confirmation, my guess is that it's Michael Kors. The party took place literally 100 feet from my apartment.

Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel are spending a lot of time in New York recently. Jess was just named the new face of Revlon, Justin will be hosting SNL this weekend with Ciara - which means he's performing, too! They live down in Tribeca, run along the Hudson and got very decked out for last night's Costume Ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. They seem to be assimilating nicely to New York. I had my doubts - usually Southerners don't really love the city enough to live here, but Mr. Tennessee Timberlake seems to be having a blast.
